It's the end of the line for the World of Springfield, or at least the regular series figures. Series 16 is now hitting the shelves at Toys R Us, and all that's left is the final playset, due sometime in August. The final series includes the much wanted Agnes Skinner, the three nerds, Benjamin, Doug and Gary, Evil Homer, Brain Freeze Bart, and Artie Ziff. I have my review up today of the full set.

The guest review is from Brandon Miller and covers the claymation world of Ray Harryhausen. Brandon talks about the whole set of 8" vinyl figures from X-Plus USA. You can find both reviews at the usual:

And since it's mid-week, it's also time for the MPS update. The review there carries over the theme, with the new South Park Towelie figure. I managed to finally find him last weekend at a different Hot Topic, but he's a serious disappointment. There's a link from the main page to the review - thanks for reading!

I saw those Simpsons yesterday, they're great, except for Homer.

I was really excited about Towelie, then when I saw him in Hot Topic I saw they made a stoned version!

I wanted the regular version, like how he's depicted in the package art. Everything else is great, but once again Mirage has botched the figure I was most excited about.

That's what everybody wanted, and that's what they meant when, in poll after poll, "Evil Homer" was a top variant choice. That got lost somewhere in the translation with PM - either that, or FOX pulled one of their usual routines and dictated what they thought was the better idea.

At least the new figures in the line are great. Especially the nerds. I might double the size of my collection because of them!

I have Cletus, Frink, and Hawking right now.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">well, I think they made a big mistake this time.
I don't really collect Simpsons figs(only have 3), but the REAL Evil Homer would have been a runaway seller, I think.

Well, at this point, I think it's pretty moot. It's not like any of these are going to be warming the pegs, considering what I'm betting will be the lowest run size of any series.

I tried to get the Maude figure made - set up a deal with a retailer, set up the finances with PM, had everything in place, and FOX refused. Idiots.

Cool

One question about the Simpsons.....

Do they release special sets for Halloween or I am just mixing the sitcom horror specials for TV ?
